A Dozen Things I Love about Winter in Alamo, CA

A Dozen Things I Love about Winter in Alamo, CA

  1. Rainbows on those days when the rain falls gently in transparent curtains but the sun shines through
  2. The smell of pine and eucalyptus when I go out to get the newspaper in the morning and the smell of wood smoke at night
  3. Crazy mushrooms erupted out of our lawn like bizarre yard ornaments
  4. Daffodils and apple blossoms in February
  5. Snow on top of Mount Diablo
  6. Deep clear blue skies after a major storm has swept through
  7. Wearing a hat, gloves and scarf but not really needing them
  8. Sweet oranges and smooth skinned avocadoes from friends’ trees
  9. Sleeping with the window open
  10. Eating lunch outside on our southern deck with my back to the sun
  11. Walking on the bike trail at high noon on a windless day
  12. Rejoicing that I don’t live in Boston any more!
