During 2012 I challenged myself to do one mosaic a month. In February I started a heart for Valentine’s Day but ended up making it not about love but about war. Specifically I had in mind my brother-in-law Lindsay and my father, both of whom suffered as a result of their military service. This is the first mosaic that I ever had in an exhibit, at the Institute of Mosaic Arts (Oakland). I dedicated it to everyone whose lives have been broken by war. 12” X 12”. Vitreous, dichroic, smalti, baubles.
